We wait with baited breath, I do hope this is true but I have heard the phrase "it should be all sorted in a couple of months" so many times I will not believe it until it actually happens.

A further bit of info:-
This is from someone on the Dalyan council but in the political party who is not in power at the moment. Apparently some decisions will be made in the elections next March and he is thinking that his party will get back in next year.
Anyway he says there is a disagreement of how large the parcels can be and % of build allowed. I think the government want 20% on 3000 sqm. Of course anyone wanting to make money wants 20% on 500 sqm. It is likely to settle at 20% on 1000 sqm. If the existing party gets in the council again in March then expect everything to go through, if the other party gets in then there will be another delay of up to 3 years while they redraw the boundaries and plot sizes.

I heard this too from someone in the building trade. He said about a month's time (and no, he's not trying to sell/build me a property there!)

If it is only a month that would be great we could sort something out whilst we are there for the New Year. Please keep us posted if you hear anything else, thanks.

Hi, I have heard this rumour, of Okcular going into the Belediye, on and off for the last 11 years. There obviously is a faction who would love this to happen and another who would not. The villagers themselves have to vote to go into a Belediye and the relevent government body in Ankara has to approve it. This plan has been around for years, as have the rumours, personaly I would not bank on it happening soon.
If for example, you went to ask someone in the Belediye what is happening you are as likely to get as many different answers as the number of people you ask. A bit like asking directions somewhere. Even if they don't know they like to give an answer right or wrong.

I have had a long talk today with a Turkish resident in Okcular regarding this subject. According to this person, Dalyan has the right by law to absorb Okcular into the municipality. However a large number of residents are objecting to this happening and are taking it to court tomorrow. The outcome, one way or the other will take years!! When I asked how many years, the answer given was 8 to 10 years maybe more.
My informant is a well educated and successful business person who is probably wellplaced in knowing what is happening. When I asked how long would it take without any objections, the answer was, probably the same as there are many steps that have to be taken that require further approval at each stage.
As I have no personal or financial interest in whether Okcular goes into the Imar plan or not, I feel justified in reporting this. If I hear anything different I will again report it.
Thanks for up date Steve
as you say good news for some bad news for others

Have been told today that Okcular up as far as the school has now come under the approved development plan for Dalyan. Have not got any further info yet so if any residents can verify or expand on this info it would be appreciated.

I have not heard anything yet John, I presume you heard from Helenka and Dundar? The only thing I have noticed lately is about Ortaca where the boundary signs have moved and now include the last village before Ortaca which is just past Kemaliye.
So things are happening, slowly but surely.

Hi Steve I have heard this from Linda from Dalyan Select she got the info from Berni the solicitor and from Kubila of Turkish Ev (Ithink), also a neighbour who is in the same position as us was in Dalyan up till last thursday has emailed me to let me know the same.
I have asked Helenka and Dundar to try and find out all the details but it is always good to have as many ears to the ground as possible.

There was a meeting of Okcular residents last week. I do not know the details but I think the jist of the meeting was that the residents were not happy with the Imar plan sent from Ankara and that they were discussing drawing up their own Imar plan to submit. When the Imar plan is accepted Okcular does not need to go into Dalyan Belediye for the Foreign ownership problems to be sorted, so the news is mixed it will take more time to sort out but it will get sorted.
Ta for heads up Steve and good news

Hi Steve, I thought it had all been done and dusted as friends of ours are progressing the transfer of tapu into their name now.
Dundar went to the tapu office last week but we couldn't progress ours as the tapu office told him that a new road would affect our plot. We have a track there at the moment.
Great!!!! This is probably what the residents are up in arms about as there are probably quite a few new roads being planned.
We don't know how much we stand to lose, hopefullyit is not much, and I am awaiting a plan from Dundar to see what it shows. Unfortunately due to Bayram this won't be till wednesday. He was told it would be two weeks and then the transfer could go ahead.
I thought the whole delay was due to the need of going under the Dalyan development plan. I am not doubting your info but why couldn't Okcular just have done their own Imar plan in the first place drawn up and agreed by all.

Who knows John? I got that info from residents who were at the meeting. Just a bit more patience required I think. It will all happen some time or other, that saying "this is Turkey" comes to mind.

Well I have now seen the plan and they have drawn the road through our plot completely leaving about 120 sq.mtrs on one side of the road and the part with our house on the other.
How crazy is that, they have deviated away from the track so they can draw a straight line. As far as I can see we are the only plot they have done this to.
