The Winters

Hi everyone, we are planning to rent a property in Dalyan for 12 months from April next year, we have found a suitable property and need to pay some rent in advance. Can anyone suggest the best and cheapest way to do this, we have arranged the rent to be paid in Lira.
Any advice would be helpful.
Irene
:Money::Confused:
If you have a bank account in Dalyan
transfer money into that then pay rent by standing order the best and safer way
also if you transfer a large sum over there either to cover 6 or the 12 month rent + a bit extra you will either pay one charge or two depending which way you go

Thanks Andy, although we have a bank account with the Garanti Bank it is not active at the moment an early visit to Dalyan seems to be the answer if we can find a cheap flight over the winter months!
Hi.
In August I sent money over via swift. I was charged ?25 by my U.K. bank and the charges when it hit my account in Dalyan came to ?100, totalling ?125. Does anybody know of a cheaper way other than stuffing it down my sock.

Yes, money transfers, it seems to be dependent upon who you use in the UK as to how much it costs.
Most of my friends and I use RBS Royworld, and it seems to cost ?25 with no charges this end at Isbank. However other banks seem to use an intermediary bank in Istanbul who then add on their charges.
So it seems to depend on who you bank with.
Hi Steve
Thanks for the information. Do you know if you have to have an account with RBS to use this service. Thats certainly a lot less, and now I know the reason why.

did you transfer it direct from your bank to the Dalyan bank or a third party because i have never been stung by ?100 charges
was it sterling to sterling or sterling to lira account
It was a sterling to sterling transfer from hsbc to isbank in Dalyan. I paid the ?25 then after the money was transfered I got the further ?100 charged to my uk account. I rang and they said the charge came from the banks in between.
Steve mentioned the RBS and the flat fee. I will open another account there if that is the case.
