View Full Version : Dalyan Novice
Hi just joined the forum. We are hoping to visit for the first time in September-we have been visiting Turkey for the last 5-6 years and fell in love with Kalkan-however it is becoming a bit too commercialised which is sad.As we love Turkey & the lovely friendly locals we thought we would look for somewhere else & thought Dalyan looked fabulous.
Any tips or info gratefully received-we were looking at a small pension-Dalyan Garden Pension as a possible base and would welcome any comments.Just booked our flights for 20th September for 14 nights-a girls gotta have something to look forward to on these dark cold nights! Can't wait !:Happy:

Welcome Suki, I think you have chosen well. We also go in September, its a lovely time of year to visit, mind you I would visit every month if I could. I'm sure someone on the forum will be able to tell you about Dalyan Pension, personally I have seen it but don't know anything about it. Enjoy your holiday, I'm sure you will.

Suki,
Hi and wecome to the forum.I am sure you will love Dalyan.Have a great holiday.
Regards Julie
Thank you to everyone who replied to my post-flights booked so now looking for accommodation.Unfortunately no info from anyone re Dalyan Garden Pension so looking for some recommendations-either apartment or small hotel-we prefer to eat out at night & try all the local restaurants. Not sure how easy it is to walk around Dalyan-Kalkan very hilly so going home at night after a few Efes & wines could be a trial! Does anyone know how far the Dalyan Garden Pension is from centre & is it within feasible walking distance?
Any tips would be great.
Kind Regards

Some good reviews on there.

Hi, I know where Dalyan Garden is and 15 minutes walk I think is optomistik( sorry my English is getting worse) however the photo's look good and it sounds like they are trying hard. At the end of the day I am sure wherever you choose to stay you will fall in love with it.(Mr. Diplomacy)
Is the distance from the centre of upmost importance? Yes Dalyan is flat and a taxi only costs 7 lira anywhere in Dalyan, the same as 2 beers or 1 votka something.
The village is quite used to people staggering around at all hours of day and night and most bar owners will get you a taxi if you look incapable of getting back to your hotel safely.
As I have said elsewhere, Dalyan may not be as smart as Kalkan but it has a laidback attitude that is infectious.
I can almost guarantee you will return and probably to the 1st place you stay.
That Villa Kiydan looks nice
Hi I stayed at the villa kiydan last year the week before the season started. It is in a beautiful spot and ideally located for a short 5 minute walk into town. It is also right next to the river and they have there own boat for trips. The small complex of apartments is owned by 2 brothers, Ohnur and can,t remember his name!. They will look after you completely. The accomodation is also first class. Stan:Yep::Yep:

Hi
I can vouch for Villa Kiydan, having stayed there twice last year and again this coming September. Onur and his family (brother is called Mahmut by the way) are lovely people and nothing is too much trouble for them. I believe they are building a villa for this season. I enjoy the stroll into town on an evening to go to dinner, however on the way back after a few vinos I have found myself teetering towards the bushes and ditches a couple of times! but hey thats all part of the fun.

Just to reasure readers, Dalyan is not full of drunken wretches falling into ditches and bushes. It's just on occasion the drink can get the better of you especialy because you seem to relax more in Dalyan and sometimes you don't realise how much you have had.

Oh dear I hope you don't think I'm a lush!! You are right Steve, its just the fact that Dalyan is so laid back its quite easy to get caught up with it all. Come to think of it, I don't think I have ever seen any drunken behaviour, mind you we're usually tucked up by 11pm after a hard day by the pool and all that fresh air.
lol we all get sneaked home in taxi so no one see's us

I am sure I have seen Andy with a t-shirt on proclaiming he is
"The only lush in the village"

It all sounds wonderful! Maybe we can all meet up fora couple (or more by the sound of you lot!!) when we get to Dalyan-laid back sounds just perfect for us!! Still checking out accommodation as there seems to be lots to choose from-not sure if apartment/villa v small hoel-oh choices choices.
Thanks to all who posted-I'm sure we'll land lucky wherever we end up!
