As regular forum readers will know ,I have just been back to England, the south and southeast to be specific, and I have some observations A, everyone must be rich, 5 years ago when we last went back the most common cars were rovers, fords, vauxhals, fiats and bmw's or vw's in that order, now it is bmw, mercedes, lexus, audi, bentley and aston martin with range rover in the middle of both lists some where along with porsche. I actually got excited when I saw a fiat doblo. And B.
Tesco, Aldi, Lidl and Primark are so good and so cheap compared to here, no wonder everyone can afford a nice car. Now that will set the cat amongst the pidgeons??? I spent so much in Tesco, they have this week announced bumper sales and growth, someone should tell them it was me and I am not going back for another 5 years,
Also went to a nice mexican restaurant with the daughter and son in law, no kids but they have a lexus, it cost ?94 for the 4 with them having a couple of drinks each, when I said strewth, thats a lot!! they then told me that they regularly spend that and more on just the 2 of them in London and thought it was very good value. It must be down to perceptions and disposable income.

As my last post did not generate any replies, I shall now say that Burger King has opened in Fethiye!!! There are also some new bars and cafe's opened so hurry up and get out here and try them before they disappear.

Well here 'oop north' we don't get so many posh cars but we do have to spend money on a good night out - that is why we like the good value we get in Dalyan. But good wine is cheaper here while fruit and veg is better and cheaper in Dalyan. But don't forget that things are likely to change everywhere with the credit crunch and a lot of those care and fancy lifestyles are on visa not real money. Believe me I would rather have Dalyan with sunshine relaxation and all than lexus tesco and all
Looking forward to my holiday and working too hard in the rain is making me cynical

Eating out in the U.K. is a thing of the past for many now, that is why it is something to look forward to when we come to DALYAN,as you saw food prices in supermarkets are good in the uk but to go to a restaurant 7 nights a week as we do in DALYAN is impossible many say a rip off,as the new season will soon be underway soon how have the restaurant prices shaped up to last year?? SEA BASS/BREAM/STEAK DINNER etc.i will be there in a 4 weeks and looking forward to it so much

I so agree with Rayzor, eating out is definitely a thing of the past for us, can't quite remember when we last ate out, other than when our bosses at work treat us to a birthday lunch. I sure as hek can't afford it these days. We used to like going for a Sunday lunch time drink too at one of the many countryfied pubs around here, that also is a thing of the past. We much prefer to have a few drinks indoors, can't bear to pay the prices out there. Like Rayzor, we love the fact that in Dalyan we eat out every night, quite a novelty and it costs nowhere near as much as the UK, and they wonder why everyone is flocking to warmer climes and less expensive places. Oh well, there's always the lottery on Saturday!! Roll on September.

It does actually depend on where you live as to what your priorities are, as you know I am a Southerner, but did have the privalige of living in Hull for 8 or 9 years. Although a university town, the main thing seemed to be that you had enough money for a few good nights out and good holidays etc. In the South, you are so busy trying to make money, for the mortgage or keeping up with the Joneses, there is actualy little time to make friends or have regular good nights out, let alone the money for a good night out or holidays.
