Yes Chris, I have been following that thread and would be gratefull if someone could record the program for us, either dvd or vhs, and bring or send it over, I can then send it on it's rounds in Dalyan. I believe the tv company will be bombarded with other similar stories. Hopefully the power of tv will bring about change.

Hi, just been watching "This Morning" and the couple who lost their home in Turkey are on Tuesday morning. They are asking people to email them with their coments before 10 o'clock. And no I don't sit watching daytime tv all day, but I will tomorrow morning.

Me again, the email address is thismorning@itv.com if anyone wants to have a say, I have.

Hi, has anyone else sent an email to show their support? I sent mine yesterday.

No I have not, because I do not have such a story to tell but I would encourage all that have been mistreated and robbed to do so. I did not want to muddy the water with 2nd and 3rd hand tales when there are many who justifiably need the help that the budget and power of a tv company or newspaper can do.

So its just me then. As some people on this forum know we are in a similar situation to this couple albeit not as bad YET!. All I wanted was for those people to maybe send a quick email, even if it was to say that they know someone this is happening to. Maybe their loyalties are with the estate agents who use this forum for whom this mornings interview did no favours. Think I will stick to Turkish Living Forum in future. Thanks guys!.

Chris, I can understand your frustration however I haven't emailed them yet but my gripe is with the turkish government rather than an emlak, as they moved the goalposts during our process. Unfortunately I have no recourse through the courts I have just got to play the waiting game and hope the goalposts move back. Whilst sympathising with you deeply (although I don't know the exact details) I can also understand Steve's post.

I am not sure if it would be a help or a hinderance if loads of emails are received that state "I know someone" or I know someone who knows someone" rather than "I am in a similar position" especially when they have requested the latter.

In fact you are the only person I know directly in what I gather is a similar position to those featured on the program. And as I don't know your actual circumstances I can't really email them about it.

I don't think it is a case of not supporting you or anyone else in your position. If there was a petition such as on TLF (which I have signed) that is a different matter.

I do hope you and everyone else has had problems with their Tapus (including me) gets them sorted out to their satisfaction as soon as possible.

Just to get the record strait, I have never supported nor condoned any of the misspractices by some of the emlaks and builders. I may have insight into what goes on but I do not have proof. Heresay and knowledge is not admissible in any court of law without documentary proof and me or anyone else going to the newspapers or tv companies with this type of evidence only diminishes the situation for people like Chris and others who have been so wronged.
I don't know Chris's exact circumstances but I am well aware of the problems most people have unwittingly got themselves into and usually the common denominator is the length of time it takes to get military permission and the unscrupulous things that can happen in the meantime. The main thing is to get the law changed so that the military permission can be done in the Tapu office and everything can go through in one day, just as it does for Turkish people and my writing to a tv company will not change that one bit. Political leverage from the European Union might help.
I have used this and TLF to try to warn people before they fall into these traps and I have directly advised people not to do something and they have taken no notice. Thankfully many more have and are now the proud owners of fully legal property. Unfortunately I cannot say don't use this emlak or that builder as I would like to live here a little longer.
Johns problem, I am well aware of and in his particular circumstances, I am personaly not alarmed, time will sort it out, if not, there are other options and I do not see it as something for him to worry about. He was basically a victim of a law change, not his fault nor the builders.
Thank you John for your words earlier and yes I have signed those petitions, the only reservation I have is their wording, they don't say what they actually want, they sort of skirt around the issue.
Fortunately the Emlak association of Antalya are very aware of the problem and have petitioned the relevent ministry to get this bit changed. As reported in Hurriyet this week.

As I can't see it I presume it is youtube, I shall have to wait untill after the 10th June.
Yet another of the wierd things this government has done, I am sure I read somewhere that they were going to lift the ban, after all they can block some of the content that they don't like but like everything else it will probably take years or a complete change of government.
