Thanks, we certainly intend to, have never had a bad day in Dalyan as yet whatever the weather - usually excellent but have been on the lake in the odd storm or two!

It certainly improves the look of the river front we have watched the frontage change over the last 12 years from when there was a bank in front of the mosque. Have heard the Atturturk monument has now moved and looks quite good (where the turtles were). Also that the square is now having a makeover taking away the shrubs along where the restaurants are. Also big plans for the riverside restaurants - anybody know what the plan is there?

Why do Turks think having flashy websites that take ages to load are great????? Any way I am sure that I have posted the prices somewhere else on the website, not cheap, but more or less in line with other hotels with these facilities and views. I have also said that I know the manager, he does know the business, so it should be pretty good.

Um, there seems to be a new controversy concerning the new hotel, apparantly the licensing authority has refused a licence to opperate as it is too near the river???? Will try to find out details.

OMG how stupid is that

I am beginning to wonder if it was a clever but very unfair ploy to get the building finished. 2 completely different authorities involved.

Well, good news the Tezcan is open for business and the restaurant is open to the public, it all looks very smart.

Nows your chance to try the buffet Steve and let us know how it is. Their website is much better too, has pictures of all the rooms, looks very swish. I hope they do really well.

What a fabulous week we had in Dalyan! I fell in love with the place and the people.

The Tezcan was good - but not great. Decent room, comfortable beds, great shower, excellent aircon. And fabulous views across to the tombs and up and down the river. Room cleaned daily and very thoroughly. But beware - anyone who books should ask for a room with view, otherwise you'll get no balcony, and a view over the back alley and a load of satellite dishes. The only advantage to the rooms at the back is that they are a bit bigger - so better if you need an extra bed for a child.

The great shame about the hotel is that it seemingly hasn't yet had time to develop a personality. We found it a bit cold and bland. It certainly has one of the best locations in town - and a lovely pool and restaurant overlooking the river. Two problems here, though. Firstly, the pool has sunbeds which are in the shade until the afternoon, so not great if you're a determined sun worshipper. And secondly, the restaurant is average, has no atmosphere and was more expensive than anywhere else we ate at. And the service was a bit indifferent. But we only ate there one night - so do try it if you stay there.

If they want to live up to their 'boutique' hotel claim, they need to create some atmosphere, get some decent coffee in for breakfast (a jar of instant to help yourself to??) and generally get a bit more of a smiley vibe going on. Reception staff were efficient and friendly but it's all a bit impersonal.

In sharp contrast, we spent an evening at the Bin Kaya - which, despite not having the best of locations, completely won us over for atmosphere and friendliness.

We were very lucky to book the week at Tezcan for around half the brochure price - but would have been less than impressed had we paid the full price. But all in all, a wonderful holiday and a clean, comfortable hotel with great location and huge potential. Let's hope they make the most of that potential soon.

What a great unbiased review. Will definitely have a look around when we visit in September, but I think it may be a bit rich for my blood. Now the Bin Kaya, we must have walked past this litte gem lots of times on our previous visits, but couldn't place until someone else wrote it up a couple of weeks ago. We are always on the lookout for somewhere different so this too is a must go see in September. Thanks for the info. Glad you had a good time in Dalyan.

As mentioned in another thread by the Winters - the plan is for anybody interested to be at the Bin Kaya on any Saturday in September around 12 ish to meet some of the faces behind the names in this forum. We shall definitely be there on the 5th and 12th and looking forward to seeing who turns up - even if nobody comes, the beer will go down well as a break from the market

Kate, what a great review. I am not very surprised about the lack of personality, it is a bit new and they probably will have a lot of teathing problems. With luck they should be sorted for next season.

we went to the tezcan hotel first week of september, i have just booked to go again, we loved it, the hotel we felt was excellent, it has the most wonderful location and the views from your balcony if you have a lakeview are stunning. We found all the staff to be great and felt very welcomed by them all. The rooms were a good size, with a lovely bathroom, tv,fridge, wifi, and air con.

It was lovely to be sitting on the river for breakfast in the mornings, and there cooked to order omelettes were great.

we ate at the hotel once and was very good and very well priced.

I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel to anyone we had a wonderful holiday.

i have also been to akyaka, and although they are very different and both have there good bits. ie akyaka has a great beach and is very relaxed, our new favourite is Dalyan, i think it has such a great location and a wonderful feel, loads of restaurants and all types of bar without being over the top, and there is so much to do boats, ruins, mud baths, beaches etc.

We are looking forward to my second vist next year..
