This topic may have been covered before please excuse my ignorance if it has, but has anyone used an optician in Ortaca? If so which one and do they speak English? I have heard that frames etc are so much cheaper in Turkey than here at home. Planning an eye test shortly and will be in Dalyan in September so thought I might be able to save a few pennies (or lira)! Any info would be appreciated.

Hi Irene, yes we have used Ortaca Optic on many occasions and found him very good indeed. Bring your prescription with you and go and see him as soon as you arrive it takes about 3 days to get the lenses and fit them to your new frames. If you have frames that you like he will fit new lenses to them also. I did try one in Fethiye once and it was all wrong and no warrenty. If we have had a problem Ortaca Optic has always sorted it out. Yes he speaks a reasonable amount of English his shop is opposite the bus station next to Lezzet Doner.

HI Steve - I agree with you. My wife used them about 3 years ago - she had really bad eyesight at the time and the lenses in the UK cost a fortune. Took about 3 or 4 days to get new lenses and frames, and the whole lot was about half of the then UK price. Even more surprising was the fact that when they were ready, the optician brought them round himself to our hotel in Dalyan

Thanks Andy & Banjoman, will give them a go in September - off to the optician's tomorrow for the new prescription. In the throes of a heatwave here with temperatures reminiscent of Dalyan 30+.
