In about seven days i and the members of my family are arriving in dalyan. My son and i like to fish.My question is is it allowed to fish or do you need a licence and if you do were can you get it.I am talking about rod and reel just sitting on the bank f the river or the harbour and let the stress flow away out of your body maybe with the help of a cold beer:hmm::hmm:

Hi Crazy Tomato, yes you can go on fishing trips and also crabbing trips, try looking at kaunos toursw on line they have a lot to offer and are good at what they do as far as we know. Take the sun cream as it will be in 40C's probably and you burn quicker at sea. Enjoy the fishing and your holiday.

I have fished at the Ceyhan restaurant with a small rod and reel so I would think the following is general for along that stretch. If you fish with a paternoster rig with maybe a 1/4oz lead you will get through the smaller stuff on the surface. Expect to catch both grey and golden mullet they are not monsters but they give a good scrap on light gear.
I used bits of chicken supplied kindly by the restaurant on a 16 hook but you could use bread, I keep meaning to take some of that artificial bread you can get in the UK like this http://www.nailorsfishing.co.uk/Alien-Baits-Artificial-Bread/3176.htm as the real stuff gets whittled away quickly.
Only problem you may have if you use chicken is the turtles, I hooked into something quite big and it felt like a fish but I couldn't be sure it wasn't one of the large turtles.
Also watch out for cats trying to intercept your catch.
I have read on another forum you are supposed to have a licence but I have never had a problem .... yet.
Oh and the mullet are delicious on a bbq!!!!!!

There is the possibility I suppose of sea bass but you really need to fish in the area inside of the beach for those and for that you would need a boat they are definately there.
Have seen a few other small fish that are not mullet in the harbour area but not sure what they are.
There are large carp and catfish in Lake Koycegiz. I have also heard of a lake above koycegiz take a look at this thread http://www.turkishliving.com/forums/koycegiz/23290-fishing-koycegiz-area-2.html
It is worth doing a fishing trip maybe even hiring a boat and skipper and use lures around hole island (off the beach) you will catch barracuda there.
I haven't been on the Kaunos trips so cannot comment on them.
Will be doing more fishing when I move out there permanently unfortunately am in the UK at present and won't be out till October.
There was a good review of the Kaunos fishing trip at:

Will give it a go myself. No room in my freezer, caught 2 turbot in Lyme Bay this week :hmm:
