There are or used to be red backed shrikes in the UK, sometmes called butcher birds. I saw one many moons ago.

You are right Vince unfortunately they are now on the red list species for the British Isles. They are virtually extinct as a UK breeding species but can still be seen anywhere on the east and south coasts in the UK whilst migrating.

The Wood warbler is found in the Uk mostly in the woodlands of wales but is again on the red list. The fan tailed warber is rarely seen in the Uk but a friend heard of a report of one seen in dorset in recent weeks.

The slender billed gull is a meditteranean species.

That rare bird 'True Brit' is on the danger list in the UK too. - They are all coming to Turkey to live and I don't blame them!!!

Strangely the one I saw was in West London, admittedly over 30 years ago when I was a kid. It stuck in my mind as I had to go to the library to look it up.
