    Default Vehicle MOT or visa

At long last the Turkish MOT/VIsa system for vehicles has changed. It is now being done by private TUV regulated testing stations and is, thank God, quite stringent. In the past if the numbers on the registration matched the vehicle it passed.
So in a couple of years most if not all of the deathtraps that are currently on the roads will be gone.

Yes, the reason I said vehicles is because it includes tractors!!!
However if the vehicle, mopeds for example, has never been registered it won't apply but the Jandarma do confiscate a large number of these every year.
There is still 2 years between testing for most private vehicles so unfortunately we still might hear the odd moped zooming along in the pitch black with no lights and no light coloured clothing being worn by the rider.
If you have ever experienced this, it can be very scary!!
It won't stop bad driving either. But they might now check their lights and tyres.

Sorry Steve my reply was aimed at Andy.

And yes I have had a few scary moments with mopeds and tractors on the road between Dalyan and Okcular

    No problem.
When we 1st moved from the UK, we used to live in Kemaliye and there was no street lighting at all on the main road. There were 2 incidents that I will never forget, 1st we were walking to the Ley Ley one night, there was no moon, no white lines no reflective markers at the side of the roadand we only had a small torch. It was a little misty and we could hear these 2 mopeds, at full throttle, coming from Ortaca with no lights, we had to jump into the ditch at the side of the road because we just could not see them. On another occasion, late at night I was driving the scooter back from Dalyan and around Marmali these two people wearing dark clothes were suddenly right in front of me crossing the road, I nearly hit them but realised they were using the feable light from the scooter to see their way across. Allah may protect but I nearly lost it.
