Default What to bring on holiday??

Most people looking at this website will either own their own property, stay in self catering accomodation and least of all staying in hotels.
YOU CANNOT GET MARMITE!!!! Ok thats out of the way, I love it and am always very gratefull to friends who bring supplies for me 500g jars or the 600g catering tub preferably.
If you like chocolate you will be in chocolate heaven, they have choccy versions of most cereals, many choccy spreads and if you must, choccy flavoured toothpaste. As well as a huge choice of choccy bars.

Bacon, sausages, pork in general, white fish and baked beans. Yes, you can get all of these, ok all more expensive and not much choice but if you must have it it is available, of course if you use our local euro delli the prices will eventually improve.

Having said all this, as a tourist it is your God given right and obligation to eat at least 3 meals a day in a different restaurant every time, thereby safeguarding the local economy and giving the hardest worker a break as well.

No, you do not need to bring toilet rolls, kitchen towels or cleaning materials. Nor do you need to bring mayonaise or ketchup, salad cream is different, if you must, bring some.

Drugs, bring your prescription drugs with you, if you lose them or run out they will be available at the chemists.
There is always a chemist open 24hrs aday and 7 days a week and some things are cheaper than a presciption, such as ventalin, anti histimines and old fashioned Baticon (iodine) which you don't seem to be able to get in the UK anymore.

Alcohol, imported alcohol is very expensive, if you must have it, bring duty free, you can get away with 5 litres per adults and UK aiports often have a 5litre deal.?35 in 2008.

Plug in insectocutors with tablets or liquid plus insect repelants are also readily available and much cheaper than in the UK. Suntan protection however is way more pricey here so stock up in Boots.

"Love it, or hate it" I most definitely love the stuff. Is it true that the mozzies hate it.

Mossies don't like marmite if you spread it all over. Apparantly!!! They are supposed not to like vitamin b, I have been taking enormous amounts as well as marmite since the op. I still get bitten, I think they like me.
If you can spare any try giving some to a Turk to taste, it is quite funny, they cannot handle strong flavours.
Mind you it is a bit of a waste.

No, they don't like snow or ice, if we had some propper frosts in the winter they might not be such a problem. However the Belediye do go around spraying at the appropriate times and last year there seemed to be a significant reduction. They stopped blanket spraying in the town centre because some 'tourists' complained about the smell of diesel when they were eating. Probably the same ones that complained about being bitten.
A strange thing though, I once saw a lady in the chemist showing off the worst case of insect bites gone bad that I have ever seen. She had only arrived the day before but had been bitten in London at a bbq a couple of days before. So this is not the worst place it just seems some people suffer more than others. Vit B does help though.
    AND I STILL LOVE MARMITE.
Getting back on subject, toothpaste, sensodyne in particular and artificial sweeteners are expensive. Turks usualy get a prescrition if they need them and only pay 10 or 20% through their insurance.
I hope you all survive the bad weather without incedent, a friend of mine missed her plane yesterday stuck on the M25 trying to get to Gatwick. She missed a trip last year due to an airline collapse. 3rd time lucky we hope.
