Default Sat TV is there a freeview like option

Hi All, Just purchased and although I will only be using my apartment for holidays just wondered if there was a freeview option which picks up English channels even if its only BBC news or CNN and the like a couple of Childrens Channels would be good, not that we intend to sit indoors all the time but hey Turkey does have a winter too Im told.

    Thanks Carl

I have read/heard about the 3metre Dish for sky as well I am sure the captains bar has one, not sure how you would obtain a viewing card though as it has to be registererd to a uk address, unless you get around that somehow.

If you have a look here http://www.lyngsat-maps.com/index.html you can view the coverage of the satellites that cover the uk I think sky uses the Astra ones. You can get a map for the coverage with recommended dish sizes.
I have a photographic memory, but sometimes I leave the Lens Cap on.

Hi all, been away in The UK for a week but now I am back!!!!
Over the years we have tried the cheap options of a dish and decoder, zillions of channels, only a few you would want to watch but probably OK just for the holiday especially if it will get cnbce which is great after 6pm and on weekends. There is the possibility of sky or freeview but obviously there is the problem of the dish being the size of a small car and expensive. Most of us living here on limited means have Digiturk but it is a subscription system and you have to have it for at least a year.
I am not an expert and I am not sure that any of the locals are, when it comes to english channels, but there is an english run satelite company in Fethiye who are, I don,t know what they are called but if you are desperate go on to a fethiye forum and ask them.
