    Default Useful Phrases

I am not sure who will be interested in sharing some of the phrases they have picked up on their numours trips to Turkey but I am one who is always williing to try. So I thought we could start with the basics.

    Merhaba - Hello

iyi gűnlar - Good day (said at anytime)

    Nasılsın? - How are you?

    iyim - I'm fine

ş?yle b?yle - So So (pronounced Sherley Berley) one of my favorites

    k?t? değilim - Not Well

    Ben de - Me to.
Someday soon. Everything will be Acronyms!

Thats great, I also like to try out the Turkish language when I'm there. My husband is so embarrassed he walks 2 steps behind me. I actually have a programme on my computer which I listen to frequently. BYKI, I sit there like an idiot repeating everything they say, but its amazaing how many words stick. Other useful phrases:

    Iyi aksamlar - Good evening.
    Lutfen - please
serap - the all important vino
    hesap - bill
Ne Kadar - how much does it cost, or kas para? useful in the market!
    Tamam - ok.
Goodbye - Hoscakal (by the person leaving) the person staying behind is gule gule.

Just a few to be going on with. Its great fun trying to get them to understand. We now have Askin at Cafe Blue Bar well and truly trained when bringing us a drink. Instead of serafe, its cheers big ears.
