This E-Mail arrived from my friend Linda in Dalaman. Can Anyone Help?
It?s been a strange old 24 hours. Libby & me walked to Teenas (my friend), yesterday afternoon and had a coffee, at about 5pm I left and Pete (her hubby), said he'd walk their dogs back with me & Libby. We saw a large cardboard box on top of the wall along the road and beside the box were 2 little puppy faces peering down. Pete got them down and we took them back to his house and Teena went with him to the local vets to see if they would take them. They said they couldn?t, but they rang round to see if anyone else could, there was nobody that would take them.
In the end they brought them back to their house and they spent the night there. They phoned Turkan who runs a dog sanctuary near us and she said to take them to her brother Kamils shop today and she would pick them up from there. I went with Teena to Kamils and spoke to Turkan on the phone and she sounded well stressed. She currently has over 100 dogs and 40/50 cats that she looks after on the land the government provided. She has yet to get any money from them to help feed them!! I asked her if she would be able to look after the pups as they are only a few weeks old. She says she has 17 little kittens in her apartment which need constant care and asked me if someone could possibly look after the pups for a few weeks, until they were weaned and less dependent and then she would be able to take them and put them with the other dogs.
The vet is trying to find a home for them as well and I have emailed her some photos of the pups to put in her shop. So we are hoping a home can be found for them soon, but if a home hasn't been found, then Turkan will take them.
But guess who is surrogate mum for the time being!! Yes, me!!
I have been clearing out the chicken run, which is all enclosed with wire netting, so they can spend most of their time in there. I am slowly getting organised. They are having their afternoon nap at the moment, so I have time to type this. Hmm
They are both bitches, but unsure how old they are, 3 weeks at a guess. They have a very good appetite and are eating soft puppy food. They are both very affectionate and curl up round my feet to go to sleep.
I have called the dark one Seker (sugar) and the light one Bal (Honey).
