    Default Akyaka for a change.

For those who want to hire a car and see something different, you can try Akyaka, nice place with Mugla style houses, beach and river is easy to get to from the car park 3 lira, sunbeds with cushions available 3 lira and waiter service from the beach front restaurants. Very busy with young Turks at the weekend, all well behaved and courteous. You can do a small 40 minute boat trip upriver for 4lira or if you arrive by 10.00 am you can go on the big boat trip to Cleopatra's island with a lunch included 25 lira arriving back about 6pm. There are also little river boat snackeries that do fish butties etc very cheaply.
It is a bit perpendicular so need to be a bit fit if you want walk around and explore.

I agree went there once for a meal service excellent, food cheap and best meal I have had for a long time scenery out of this world will take friends there. It is mentioned in their web site about a free bus from Dalyan, but I have been told that is does cost 40 lire but holds 10 people. The boat trip sounds nice, the day one must try that for a change.

I think you are talking about Akkaya Gardens which is the restaurant with the nests in the trees? Not Akyaka which is the resort in between Marmaris and Mugla in Gokova bay.

Easy enough to make that mistake, same letters just in a different order! Have you tried the boat trip on the reservoir at AKKAYA yet?

No haven't tried it yet, may try it when we have some visitors, always looking for somewhere different to go.

I see the local buses are advertising a trip to Akyaka - 20 lira.
I saw it on the board at the beginning of my holiday and then it disappeared, only to reappear on Friday, the day before I came home!!
I must put it at the top of my list next time.

Sue, glad you are giving Dalyan a try, it is way different from Akyaka in lots of ways but similar in others. The first thing you must do is the boat trip to the beach, that should chill you quite nicely ready for lazy strolls round the town and getting to know some of the people. Please tell us of your experiences afterwards, we all like a good story, even the bad ones, fortunately not many of those.
