budget

i know this is a very subjective thread, but i was wondering if others actually budget for a certain amount of money to spend every day whilst away, and what a sensible budget for Dalyan would be?
we are a couple, both like a drink, (me more than her) and both like to eat out most days when away, we dont do all the tours and trips that the reps like to sell you, but would probably do maybe one day out, perhaps a day in a different resort or something similar, if it involves shopping even better for the other half.
now at the moment we are thinking along the lines of about £100 per day maximium.
is this a realistic amount given the prevailing prices in dalyan, is it too little, or is it a little over the top?
only been used to bodrum prices in recent years, which are quite expensive compared with england, let alone other areas in turkey.
now, i would have a full fridge of efes, and would drink around the pool in the day time, and would probably breakfast at the apartment, probably only eating out in the evenings, and the occasional lunchtime/afternoon.
average prices for a three course meal with say a bottle of wine or about 6 beers would be appreciated, but any information would be gratefully received.

We normally try to budget (maybe we're cheap skates and I am originally from Yorkshire!) but we generally don't spend more than 130-150 Lira a day which equates at the rates right now to around £55 or thereabouts, maybe a little less, and thats for 2 of us, so you would be able to eat fit for a king for £100 per day. We bought some stuff from the market last time, plus we do the Migros shopping certain days and we have never run out of money, in fact came back with some last time. If you look at the Trip Advisor Forum for Dalyan you will see several posts on dining out, prices and best places to go, which is really invaluable.

As far as trips go, we always have good intentions of trying some, but almost always just end up lazing around the pool, wandering into town in the morning, eating lunch out or at the apartments. Get eggs and bread, olives, tomatoes for breakfast, very cheap, eat at the lokantas at lunchtime, again very reasonable, then at night eat at one of the many other restaurants around town. We both like a drink too. Usually buy a bottle of wine from Migros to have a few sippettes before we go into town. Be sure to take your allowance of duty frees with you. 5 Litres each I believe, and just buy the mixers there. Obviously we have never got through all our duty frees (but not for lack of trying!!). This time we will be trying the 12 island boat trip and also to the Koycegezi market and mud baths, but only because we have friends with us for the first week and felt we had to do more than sitting around the pool. All trips are good value so I don't think it will break your bank.

One lady on the other forum has just quoted 55 lira for two steaks, all the trimmings, extra chips, 3 large Efes and that was at a new place in the new square next to Migros, I'm sure Steve will know the name, it just escapes me, but I hope this all helps. 10 weeks today, whoo hoo.

no doubt you will see me staggering drunkenly around the town square, and will ruefully tut, tut, and shake your head, and say to your partner, "see, bloody english abroad, thats what we want to get away from!" smiley face etc

looks like we will almost miss you guys in Sep - we go back on 4th and come home on the 18th. I agree on £1oo a day you should eat very well. We can't manage a 3 course dinner and usually have just a main cousre and a couple of beers in the evening. Looking back at June, if you eat in what I call the cheap end - Cagri, Bulent and the "cafe" type eateries we were paying around 25-30L for the 2 mains and 2 beers. Moving up to the likes of Ali Baba, Hidden Garden, Blue Bar, Adilan etc it was around the 50-55L mark for the same, and pushing the boat out at Safran was around 85L - all of these include a 10% tip. Having a starter and a pud would probably add another 10-15 onto those prices.
Instead if pud we often went to the patisserie on the main drag where a superb sticky cake or profiterole plus Espresso was around 8L
We tend to give the wine a miss as it is very expensive for what you get, which can often be akin to paintstripper - even 2 bottles of the same label are unlikely to taste the same, and have found it very hit and miss - even the cheapest bottle in most places is around 25L. House win in the Blue Bar was pretty good, but at the Albatross bar it was disgusting. If in an apartment I would try a bottle or 2 from Migros to have at home - if it is bad you won't have spent a lot, or if in a restaurant just try a glass first before investing in a bottle

many thanks for that, to be honest, we dont very often do three courses either, it just takes up room that could be filled with beer, but now and again we splash out, but thats another story.
we have in the past drunk many a bottle of, i think, dolucca, a turkish wine which has always been very pleasant, dolucca may be its brand name or a generic name for domestic wine, im not sure, after a couple of bottles i cant even understand english, let alone turkish.

If you go to a bar they charge you for drinks at the end of the evening, find out how much they are charging for a beer first and keep count of what you have had. thanks, it looks like we will not as much as we first thought for this holiday, as i said before, we are basing our budget on bodrum prices, which we are used to, so all these replies are a big help, so thanks to you all.
by the way, which ones only charge 2 lira for beer, will seek them out for sure!

Hi there, The ones that charge 2 lira are opposite the post office they also do good food there if you want something quick and cheap.
