    Default Yakamoz

My son and his girlfriend had an uncomfortable experience in this restaurant. It may have been a one off but from the attitude the staff showed I doubt it.

Warning bells should have sounded for them as the prices on the menu board outside are lower than those on the actual menus inside which had been taped over.

My son ordered a mixed salad as a starter and medium to well done steak. His girlfriend just ordered a medium steak. They also had a beer and coke.

The salad that was served up was a few lettuce leaves, a couple of bits of tomato and some grain of swetcorn chucked on top, this sat in about an inch of water in the bowl.

My son at this stage was having doubts and asked the waiter for the bill as he wasn't happy with the starter. He was told that he couldn't leave as the steaks had already been put on. He said he would pay for what they had had but was told that he couldn't.

Reluctantly they stayed but when his steak was served it was dripping blood, not exactly a "medium to well done" steak. Again a complaint was made that seemed to make no difference. His girlfriends steak was fine with no problems.

When the bill of 61tl was produced my son told them he would not pay for his steak as it was not what he ordered and he couldn't eat it. The waiter got very aggressive and said he would call the jandarma. In the end my son paid 40tl and walked out.

This may have been a one off but the fact that the prices are different is enough to doubt the ethos of this restaurant.
I have a photographic memory, but sometimes I leave the Lens Cap on.

Thats good to know and will be one restaurant not to eat in. We actually have to pass the restaurant every day to get into town, due to where we stay, and there was always a bald headed guy sitting outside who was quite pleasant, but for some reason we didn't really want to eat there, never saw anyone inside to be honest. The other restaurant we were disappointed in was the Sahil just a little further up. Took for ever and a day to actually get the food once ordered and when it came my other half refused to eat it, it looked like a kids meal, steak wasn't what he ordered, he refused to pay for this and to their merit they were okay with this, even bringing over the owner who was concerned, but I guess just one little incident and it kind of puts you off going again. The one good thing about the Turkish people though, is that the next day the guy sitting outside was just as friendly and they certainly don't seem to bear grudges. The other good thing is that there are many more good restaurants to choose from.

This is one of the problems with restaurants in Dalyan, they pretend to be better than they are and as soon as it gets hot continuity goes out the window. You get a great meal one time and a mediocre or terrible one the next.
By the way if you are having problems about the bill, let them call the Jandarma or the Zabita to come and sort it out, they will more than likely find in your favour. There is also a hotline number for this type of complaint 179 from any telephone.

If I had been there I would have calld the Zabita myself, unfortunately it was just my son and his girlfriend and they probably though they could intimidate them.

Thanks for the number though it will go in my mobile.

Oh and sorry I didn't get in contact Steve, when you have guests who want to do touristy things 10days just flys by.

Yes John I know what you mean your life is not your own and you end up being tour guide, entertainment director and chef. Very tiring.

re yakamoz, when we were in dalyan in september we really fancied an english breakfast one morning.. we decided to go into this restaurant for the views more than anything.. we asked if they had pork sausages, as they were advertising this but we thought it best to check.... the breakfast was truly terrible, and the sausage... well it was the usual bright pink hot dog thing... never again.

We too had a bad experience of the Yakamoz and we didn't even eat there...

Last year we had to walk past it to get to town every day and every day, Man would be standing outside trying to get us in. Every day we politely said no thank you and carried on walking... I always walk behind my husband and daughter who was 7 at the time and one night, we walked past and he said tonight you come in yes, hubby politely said no thanks and when they had walked past I saw the man make a very suggestive sexual action with his tongue to my daughter which they didn't see as they had walked past but I did as I was behind them and Man obviously didn't realise we were together and for that reason that restaurant will never get my custom - digusting behaviour !

When I told my hubby what had happened, he naturally wanted to go back and confront the man but I said no and reminded him we weren't in our own country !
