Electric still works out cheaper to use as a heating medium even with a price hike. Still, we shall have to try and be a bit more frugal!

Agreed, however we all will end up paying more for everything. If the price is going up 21pct wholesale, that will cause the ripple affect. Businessess will be putting up their prices to cover their own costs, this will filter down eventually to the consumer. So, it won't just be electricity going up it will be everything. Our Turkish friends are worrying about it already.

People on holiday have no idea about our cost of living and wonder why some things are so expensive. For a start cars are way more expensive to buy and run, everything is transported by road and some things are based on US commodity prices, such as fuel, honey, oil and sultanas to name but a few. These underlying prices affect us all, even though Turkey is a big producer of these commodities.
