    Default Lira

I am reading with great interest the continuing rise of the Lira, and wonder whether anyone who is actually living in the resort has seen any rise in the prices of restaurants/bars because of this. Can't blame them really, but it would be nice for us holiday makers to get more bang for our buck this year. Long may it continue to rise.

Turkish Lira is based on the US dollar, which has been going up due to the troubles in the middle east, the pound has also been rising against the dollar.
No sign of increases yet but if fuel prices keep going up, dollar and oil prices, it is inevitable that consumer prices will rise.
What you want is the pound to keep rising against the dollar and for that to remain stable, so that your holiday, converting pounds to lira will be cheaper.

I have never been convinced of the link beween the Lira and the Dollar - lira always seem to be better rate in Winter then Summer.
Also if you track the pound against the dollar since last September it has only gone from around 1.58 to 1.62 - approx 2.5%, wherea the lira has gone from around 2.32 to 2.60 -almost 12%

I just hope it is still around the 2.60 mark when we land in June

What is happening to the Lira? Only 5 weeks before we arrive and it has fallen to below 2.50! Hope it goes up again.
